Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs. Fingerling Potatoes, halved lengthwise
  • 2 tbsps Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Dill, chopped (or 1 tsp dried dill)
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • ½ tsp Sea Salt
  • Cracked Black Pepper, to taste
  • Optional: squeeze of lemon for brightness

Method

Tap the time in each step to start a build-in timer and cook with a little more ease and flow. Be sure to have your volume up to hear the timer chimes!
    1. Preheat with Purpose:
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Optional, line a baking tray with parchment paper or some oil for easy removal.
🌾Mindful Moment: As the oven preheats, pause and take a breath. Feel the warmth begin to build — inside and out.
💬 Kid Prompt: “As the oven warms, what warmth do you want to invite in today?”
    2. Slice and Settle:
Halve the potatoes and place them on a baking tray.
🌾Mindful Moment: As you slice the potatoes, feel the weight shift under your knife. Are they firm, smooth, knobby, or soft?
💬 Kid Prompt: “Can you help line these up like boats or rainbows? What adventure are they on?”
    3. Drizzle and Sprinkle:
Drizzle with olive oil, then toss with garlic powder, dill, salt, and pepper.
Let the kids sprinkle dill like fairy dust.
🌾Mindful Moment: Pour the oil slowly — watch how it glistens. As you add the dill and spices, pause to smell. Let scent become a doorway to memory. What scent do you notice first? What feeling does it bring up?
💬 Kid Prompt: “Can you sprinkle the dill like fairy dust or pretend salt snow?”
    4. Roast and Rest:
Roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden and tender. Use this time for a calming playlist or quiet play.
🌾Mindful Moment: While the potatoes roast, take a short pause — maybe with tea, soft music, or quiet connection. Let the scent fill the space.
💬 Kid Prompt: "What sound would match the smell of roasting potatoes? A crackling fire? A cozy hum?”
    5. Serve and Savour:
Transfer to a serving bowl. Add fresh dill and a gentle squeeze of lemon, if desired. Eat slowly and invite conversation.
🌾 Mindful Moment: As you serve, notice the textures — crispy edges, soft centers, fragrant herbs. Take one quiet bite before speaking.
💬 Prompt: “What’s one golden moment from your day?”
