Ingredients

  • 3 Crisp Apple, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 3 Eggs
  • cups Milk (dairy or oat milk)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Nutmeg (optional)
  • Pinch of Sea Salt
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, toasted pecans, raisins

Method

Tap the time in each step to start a build-in timer and cook with a little more ease and flow. Be sure to have your volume up to hear the timer chimes!
    1. Prepare with Care:
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Lightly butter a baking dish. Layer apple slices inside.
Mindful Moment: As you layer the apple slices, take a breath and notice the rhythm of your hands. How does it feel to create this soft pattern?
Prompt: Invite children to fan apple slices like “sun rays” across the dish. “Can you make a sunrise or spiral with your apple slices? What kind of sky does it live under?”
    2. Whisk with Intention:
In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
Mindful Moment: Smell the vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Which scent stands out first? What memory or feeling rises with it?
Optional: “As you whisk, imagine you’re stirring in kindness.”
    3. Pour the Calm:
      Pour custard mixture over apples.
Mindful Moment: Watch how the custard gently spreads. Take a moment to notice how it covers the apples — slowly, quietly, like a blanket.
    4. Bake with Presence:
Bake 35–40 minutes until custard is set and apples are tender.
Mindful Moment: As the dish bakes, can you notice the scent growing stronger in the kitchen? Let it be a gentle invitation to slow down.
    5. Pause and Savour:
Let cool slightly before serving warm.
Prompt at the Table: “Does this taste feel more like coziness or brightness?”
Optional for Kids: “If this dessert were a bedtime story, what would the title be?”
